Job Summary:

• Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Directs and guides patient/family teaching.
• Oversees activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards in Telemetry.
• Directly responsible and accountable for care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Communicates with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology.
• Capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment.
• Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and the reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Education, Experience, and Training:

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and must maintain current certification.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and must maintain current certification.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and must maintain current certification.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. experience preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
